When scheduling a time to photograph your home, it’s important to consider the sun’s position to ensure your property looks its best. Ideally, the sun should be shining on the front of your house during the shoot. If the sun is behind the house, it will cast shadows, making the important facade image less impressive. The facade typically serves as the main image or “hero shot” for the sales campaign, so optimising conditions for this angle is crucial.  Don't forget that the sun also changes its North-South aspect in the sky seasonally.

Don’t worry if the sun isn’t shining on the day of your shoot. Often, an overcast day provides the most even light, with clouds acting as a natural diffuser. Our editing team can enhance any sky, ensuring a beautiful blue backdrop regardless of the weather. While external images benefit from natural light, internal images can be captured at any time of day, as we have better control over indoor lighting conditions.

For twilight photography, timing is dictated by the sunset, with external images taken soon after the sun sets. This timing varies throughout the year, and we adjust our dusk photography sessions accordingly. With the official start of winter just days away, and the days are shorter, our team can shoot beautiful dusk images and be done before dinner!

When scheduling a time to photograph your property, consider how different times of day can highlight its unique features. Early morning or late afternoon often provide the most appealing light, creating stunning images as the sun rises or sets. If you’re unsure of the best time to photograph your property, reach out to our team. We can advise on the ideal timing to ensure your property is showcased in the best light.
